If you have the developer flag set, LPM will not be able to connect to it. Simple fix is to delete the /flag/developer and it should connect again.
So, still no controller. I've found a few ways to toy with the Qtopia interface, and I think it could work as a regular desktop. I've also become very talented at crashing this thing. Got it to change terminals so I could view it without having to use telnet. Still using telnet though because I can get more done, and the font is too small on the device for my monitor to read comfortably. I think this could be a pretty handy embedded linux device though, re-purposed.
If anyone out there has figured out how to trigger/configure the bluetooth on this, I would be most appreciative.

Removed the flag already, its not that. Ended up messing up the usbether binary toying around.
